“It has allowed me to meet new people and make new friends as well as give me the responsibility of handling my own money. It has given me confidence and I look forward to my Wednesday night every week.”

InterAct supports children & young people aged 8-18 with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) to get out and about in the community: so they can have fun, try new activities, make friends, and develop new skills, whilst also giving parents/carers a break.

There are now separate groups, providing age-appropriate actvities for those aged 8-14, and for 15-18 year-olds.

Whether it’s a couple of hours at the cinema, bowling or karaoke, or spending a day at the beach, zoo or an activity centre, our Short Breaks Activity Programmes are bursting with fun things for young people to do.

InterAct offers after-school & evening activities, with term-time groups in Braintree, Chelmsford, Maldon, Colchester, and Tendring District,. We go further afield for day trips & activities during school holidays and at weekends.

Newcomers are always made welcome by our staff and other members of the groups – so why not register and come along for a ‘taster session’?

To join InterAct’s Short Breaks clubs and activities, please complete and return a Registration Form.

Over 19 years old?

Why not take a look at our programme of clubs and activities for 19 to 25 year olds which includes the range of activities that you might like to join.

InterAct’s clubs and activities are provided as part of the Short Breaks service in Essex for children & young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND), which is funded by Essex County Council.

Registration with Essex County Council’s Short Breaks service is therefore also required, to obtain a Short Breaks ‘Passport ID Number’. This provides access to the activities/groups run by InterAct, and for a wide range of other Short Breaks opportunities in Essex.
